What is a Seating Chart?
Seating Charts, also known as seating scrolls, are used as an alternative to place cards. A seating chart lists your guest's names and table numbers. Instead of having tens or hundreds of small place cards, all the guest's names are listed in alphabetical order on one chart with their table number beside their name. The average size of one of my seating charts is 20" x 30"; and is placed on an easel or tabletop near the doorway of the banquet room entrance. Although they are frequently used for Weddings, they can also be used for any event requiring specialized seating, including Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Retirement, Birthday, Holiday Events, etc. Belle Jardine seating charts are created individually for your occasion and make wonderful keepsakes.
Creating a Seating Chart (See pictures below)
My correspondence is done almost completely by email and/or phone. We discuss ideas you might like on a seating scroll and whether you like one of the samples in the Gallery or whether you would like something different. After we agree on a background, it is hand painted in your wedding (or event) colors on watercolor paper. When finished with the background, I place a false guest list over it, take a picture and email it so you can get an idea of what the finished product will look like. At that point, I store the background until the R.S.V.P.'s are due -usually about 3 weeks before the wedding.
About a month before the wedding, I will email you simple directions for the guest list. When your R.S.V.P.'s have been returned, you will email me the list of your guests in with their table number. I request this be emailed to me no later than two weeks before the wedding. The guest list is put together and emailed back to you for a final check. At this point, any corrections are made and any last minute names can be added or deleted at your request. It is then printed on a whitish-transparent paper. The whole thing is put together and should be complete a week before the wedding.
When To Order
Normally, orders for seating charts are placed one to six months before the event. You can, however, order up to a year in advance or in as short as three weeks in advance. (If the event is less than two month's away, however, please contact me to insure availability.) The background of the seating chart is created and stored until you receive the R.S.V.P.'s which would be about a month or so before the wedding or event. Your final guest list is emailed to me two weeks before the occasion or three weeks if you are outside of the Metro-Detroit area.
Charts Using Invitation Designs
Occasionally, a client will want a design from their invitation. Although I can create a similar design, I cannot use their exact design as that would be copywright infringement.
